Happy National Nonprofit Day!

What is National Nonprofit Day you ask?

On August 17th, 1894 The Tariff Act of 1984 was signed into law. It imposed the first federal income tax on corporations and included exemptions for nonprofit corporations and charitable institutions. With a few modifications, nonprofit exemptions remain a solid part of the law and have served significant benefits for communities and the economy.

Sherita J. Herring, an author and respected speaker, launched National Nonprofit Day with a goal to recognize the nonprofit sector’s impact and highlight the importance of charitable organizations nationwide. The Registrar at National Day Calendar declared National Nonprofit Day to be observed annually in 2017.

How is the Fife History Museum Celebrating?

The Fife History Museum would like to take this opportunity to show our appreciation to all of those that support our nonprofit.

Thank You to Our Donors!

Our doors would be closed without you. The donations you make each year fund our exhibits and help keep the lights on. Though we have a page dedicated to recognizing our members here, we feel it is important to give all of our members an additional shout out on this National Nonprofit Day.

Volunteer Spotlight!!

Paul Norby is a crucial member of the Fife History Museum. Not only is he a board member and a donor, but he volunteers his time building, fixing, and installing everything at the museum. Paul constructed the shelving units in our store area from wood he helped remove from the Firwood School gymnasium. He created the display for the antique post office mailbox doors in our post office. He donated and installed the lantern from Fife Grade School in our schoolroom area. Paul also donates his time to help at our events and stops in regularly with his dog, Casper, to see if we need anything. A Fife High School alumni, Paul is a dedicated member of the Fife History Museum team, and we wouldn’t be here without him. Thank you for all you do, Paul!

How is the Fife History Museum Contributing to the Community?

The Fife History Museum and Cultural Center is dedicated to the preservation and portrayal of Fife’s unique and complex cultural history. We encourage the exploration of family history/genealogy. Come to us to dive into historical research and interpretation of historical material in our collection of over 1800 artifacts.

Whether your family has been here for decades and you want to research your family ties, or you just moved here and want to learn more about your new home, all are welcome through our doors to enjoy what we have to offer.

How Can You Support the Fife History Museum?

Attend an Event!

We produce three large events per year: the Fife Community Car Show in June, the Fall Open House in October, and the Christmas at the Museum event in December. However, there are many smaller events that we participate in as a museum, including National Night Out in August, and the Fife Harvest Festival in October. Attending our events promotes our museum to others that you talk with and share your experiences with on social media. Plus you learn more about the museum and that may entice you to become more involved! Check out our calendar to find events that you would like to attend.

Become a member!

Help us fulfill our mission to ensure that the history of Fife and the surrounding area is kept alive and made accessible for present and future generations. Learn more about membership levels and benefits on our membership page.

Donate!

Your donation will help with the exhibition and preservation of Fife History for new members of our community to learn more about their new home, and for long-standing members to learn more about their heritage. Donations help create and promote our events that build awareness to the museum and to Fife as a whole, and provide educational information to younger generations so they can understand and learn from their history.
